Any tips for playing with older soccer players?

Sam asked:

I’m 15 and i am currently playing for an under-19 soccer team where i live. Most of my team-mates are pretty physically imposing- i am at least 3 years younger than most. There are only 3 of us under the age of 16! I just recovered from a leg break and its my first training session today. Does anyone have any tips on how to play well in this age group without getting injured or hurt? the coach is pretty demanding and i don’t want to get shown up- PLEASE HELP!

Training for high school soccer team?

    February 29th, 2012 by soccer
    Garrett asked:

I’m going to be trying out for my high school soccer team next year, but I wasn’t able to play this year due to issues with the coach and I need to get prepared and to better myself. I am fairly sure I could make it where I stand now but I don’t want to just make the team, I want to be good. I can only run a mile in eight and a half minutes so I need to improve that definitely. I can control the ball very well and I can shoot with my right foot decently, pretty bad with my left unless I get lucky with a toe punt. So I’d like to know how often I should run and how long and how far and stuff and I’d also like to know of some good excersises I can do that will help. Thanks for reading, bye!

ok, so i have 6 weeks to get in soccer shape for high school preseason, and my goals are blazing speed, agility, power, leaping ability, etc. Now, i was lifting alot this year and gained 10 pounds but my coach told me to stop cuz he said i was becoming slower and more injury prone, but i want to play in college and i know college players lift wieghts. SO… wat lifting, exercises, sprints, running, etc should i be doing for the next 6 weeks. I have no limits to work ethic so tell me wat i must do!
